With beginning of 2010, many of us sit down to write the New Year’s resolutions. We all start a New Year with hope to make a fresh beginning with a new set of goals. Even though we are all unique there are few things everyone wants regardless of our status, health and social connections. Here are the Top 10 New Year’s resolutions for 2010.

1. Save Money / Get out of debt

With the current economic situation, it is clear why getting out of debt and saving more money is one of the leading New Year’s resolutions for 2010. We would like to be in a situation where we’re no longer dependent on banks or the jobs to survive. The economy has shown how things can go wrong overnight and why we should be prepared for it.

2. Lose Weight

Losing weight is a common New Year’s resolution for many of us. Just after the holidays, we start to realize that we have eaten a little too much. Maybe you have tried to lose some weight before and failed. But in 2010, you can have a fresh start. With motivation, accountability and the right strategy you can lose some extra pounds and keep it off in 2010.

3. Get Fit

Losing weight is not hard as keeping it off. Some physical activity such as regular exercise or participation in a sport will help you to get rid of some extra fat and stay healthy. A mistake most people make is to start a highly exhaustive exercise routine from January 1st. Chances are that would probably last for about a week. Always plan and schedule your fitness routine in advance. Include some stretching and warm up exercises, so that your body can gradually adapt.

4. Enjoy Life More / Be happy

Most of us enjoyed our lives when we were kids. But as we began to take more responsibilities we started working just to survive and forgot all about enjoying our lives. We all have heard about the celebrities who committed suicide just because they had everything but joy. With the New Year 2010, you can start enjoying your life more before it’s too late. If you don’t enjoy your work, find something that really interests you. Turn your passion in to a new business. It’s not the things that we have makes up happy, it’s whom we become.

5. Get Organized

Planning well and getting organized is a critical success factor in a person’s life. A problem that we face today is not that we don’t have enough information; it’s having too much information. We just don’t have time execute every thought that comes to our minds. Therefore, you have to consciously decide what you really want and how you are going to get it. In 2010, make a resolution to not to waste your time on unwanted and mediocre things. Always plan for the best and take action towards the best. After you have planned and organized what you are going to do, then decide the mediocre standards and habits that you will not settle for in 2010.

6. Fall In Love

Falling in love is an emotion rather than a resolution. Can we force ourselves to fall in love? Probably not. But there are few things you can do to increase your chances. Staying at home and Tweeting 18 times a day how boring your life is will not get you anywhere. If you would like to meet the right person, be around places that you would like your ideal partner to be. If your personality is to spend the weekend in nightclubs socializing with others, chances are you won’t meet that right person at your community church.

7. Help Others

Helping others and contributing is one of the basic values in humans. We always feel better when we know that our actions can make a difference in someone else’s life. Many people think in financial terms when they hear the terms ‘helping others’. You can also contribute your effort, knowledge and information. As the law of reciprocity goes, the more you help others to get what they need; eventually they will help you back to get what you need.

8. Spend More Time With Family

We all need relationships to live an emotionally healthy life. As Anthony Robbins says ‘at the end of our lives, we never worry that we would’ve spend more time in the office’. The time that we spent with our families carry the happy and joyful memories in our lives forever.

9. Quit Smoking

Smoking is one of those habits which tend to stick in every New Year’s resolutions list just because of the difficulty of stopping it. But the good news is, the advanced technologies and products we see out there has made the process easier. If you have tried any of those products before, but never succeeded then it may be the time you need some professional assistance. Will power alone is not enough to get rid of a habit that you have nurtured for years. If you are serious about making this change, you must find someone that you can be accountable for.

10. Learn Something New

When we were children we were curious to learn about everything around us. Even though adults we still have that curiosity to learn something new. What skills would you like to master in 2010? The internet is full of the information you need to get you started. After you have decided on a skill, read the top two or three books to get a good understanding about the topic. Finally, practice what you learned until it becomes your second nature.
